GoPro has reportedly ended talks with DJI to jointly produce a quadcopter drone, but the action photographic camera maker is forging ahead with plans to release a remote-controlled flying vessel for its Hero4 cameras all on its own. DJI, a leading maker of commercial and recreational drones, figures turnabout is fair play, according to Fast Company — the Shenzhen, China-based firm is now developing its own action cameras to compete with GoPro on its own turf.

GoPro last month released aeriform footage captured by a drone the company described as a "developmental epitome of [its] quadcopter and stabilization arrangement." Now that flyer has a proper noun: Karma. GoPro said this calendar week that it plans to release its Karma drone in 2016.

There'due south no word on price or specs to date, simply GoPro is attempting to build upward some buzz for Karma with a giveaway promotion on its newly unveiled Karma website. GoPro on Thursday also announced some added functionality in the GoPro app for Apple tree Watch users, including the ability to "preview shots, toggle betwixt capture modes, first/stop record, and add together HiLight Tags to the best moments of their videos," the company said in a statement.

New capabilities take also been added to GoPro apps for other iOS devices as well every bit Android products. These include the ability to more easily select and download still images from video, and a new filtering part that makes finding photos, videos, HiLight Tags, and clips easier and faster, GoPro said.

The GoPro app for mobile devices is best known for its Trim & Share tools for editing and finalizing clips lasting from 5 to 30 seconds.
